Mark Garner attended film classes at the Asheville School of Film in 2017 and 2018 while studying cinematography, editing, lighting and production. His fearless leader and and chemist of visual alchemy, Brad Hoover, was endlessly generous in his sharing of wisdom and knowledge about many aspects of the film art form while also becoming a great friend. This film was a class project that peaks into some of the stages of Saraz Handpan Building. Instead of making a “how to build handpans” video, they wanted to do something considerably more artistic that was more akin to Bert Haanstra’s “Glas” from 1958. Dark, moody, and mysterious with a focus on the personalities of the craftsman might best describe this project. Hope you enjoy!
