The “Sabye” variation name was coined by our friend Ezhan, the founder of Echo Sound Sculpture in Switzerland.
Uplifting, positive, celebratory, and empowering with a driving triumph might describe the emotion of this compelling scale form. It can also be quite jazzy with a strong major 7th vibe. We think of it as a variation of the major scale with the lowest side note starting on the perfect 4th (A3). What is interesting about the scale however is that it skips this note on the high end and jumps to the resolving perfect 5th (B4). This is one of our favorite major scale variations.
We have built the Sabye in E and F major and are eager to build it in G.
A number of bottom note options are also available. When ordering, look under your desired center note, then “Major” scale variations for these layouts. You can then add additional bottom notes to your order.
