The dorian mode is sometimes considered contemplative, energetic, and intriguing. The 20″ hexatonic variation leaves out the 4th scale degree resulting in the more traditional contemplative and mysterious Dorian feel. The 21″ hexatonic variation leaves out the 3rd scale degree resulting in one of the most positive Dorian variations that we offer as it has a very strong flavor of a peaceful and tranquil B major or mixolydian. With a low B3 added to the bottom of the 21″, it might be better referred to as a B major/mixolydian scale that leaves out the 7th scale degree. These scales play well with E major, C# Minor and specifically our B Major/Mixolydian scales.
If you have another variation in mind, please contact us and we will explore if it can also be built.
