The “Equinox” handpan scale name was coined by our friends Pantheon Steel. The name refers to a 6 note minor scale variation that omits the 4th note in the scale. Originally built in E minor, Pantheon Steel later built it in Db and F minor as well. The variation is a very close relative to the Panart “Integral” scale. The Equinox adds a note to the Integral to create an 8 note circle that starts on the minor 3rd.
It is a driving and passionate minor scale that is truly a delight to play!
We have built the “Equinox” Minor variation in E. We are also eager to build it in F and F#.
A number of bottom note options are also available. When ordering, look under your desired center note, then “Minor” scale variations for these layouts. You can then add additional bottom notes to your order.
