Driving and mysterious. The 8 note variation is also called F# Akebono, which is a pentatonic scale from traditional Japanese music. The 9 note variation is the “Hokkaido” scale form. The low G adds significantly more suspense and tension. The low A, which is also the minor 3rd of the center F#, brings more smoothness and peaceful intrigue. These scales play well with D major and E dorian scales.
